DanceMums, have you wanted to learn how to create costumes yourself?
Sewing with Lycra and stretch fabrics is not difficult, just a different skill.
After 35 years of experience, of making dance costumes and four years as Do Tutu, it time to branch out and share skills with the next generation of dance mums.
Come along to my fun and friendly costume design workshops. Limited to four participants per workshop, each gets lots of support and attention. The courses start from a basic #101 level, getting progressively more advanced throughout the year, up to #501, a stretch ballet tutu for those who really want a challenge.
Workshop completion time is flexible and based on the expected time for new sewers.
Provided at workshop:
- Sewing Machines
- Fabric kits available as inclusive of cost or additional extra depending on workshop
- Pattern available
- Lots of tea and coffee refreshments
What you need to bring:
- basic sewing kit including scissors and pins
- measurements required in preparation for the class
- a snack for lunch
#101 – Sleeveless leotard using block colour design
#101 – Crop top and booty shorts
#201 – All in one modern suit
#301 – Skirted and sleeved leotard
#401 – Leotard or unitard with nude and applique design

Those who previously attended the ‘Dance Mums’ workshops have given a unanimous 10/10 feedback.
All stated that they learned loads, even if they had previously worked with stretch fabrics, the tips and techniques. Most signed up for follow up classes as well.
I contacted Kim a little while ago to enquire about a workshop and if she would be will to teach me her wonderful skills, to which she very kindly agreed to. I absolutely loved every second learning new skills with Kim, both Kim and her husband are really lovely people and I felt at ease as soon as I walked through the door.
Kim is a fabulous tutu/ costume maker, etc: with great knowledge, And I’m so pleased she will be offering new and different workshops in the future!
I just wish I could attend them all. Thanks Kim for everything, see you in the near future x.Jane Beet, Tutu Technique
